A restaurant framing the lower gate of Hotel Palace Haludovo in Malinska — cascading terraces stepping down toward the northern cove.
The project sits on the island of Krk in Malinska, in the Haludovo area next to the Hotel Palace by architect Boris Magaš. It is conceived as the lower gate into the complex — the entry reached from the seafront promenade.
The programme is a restaurant with a supporting outdoor bar. It spans two levels — a basement and a ground floor — that step down in cascades toward the sea and the northern cove. The cascades function as terraces with alcoves (separees) interspersed with plantings of aromatic herbs: lavender, immortelle, rosemary. The space is also defined by movement — ramps that widen and narrow according to the cascade and the number of alcoves they serve.
The upper level opens fully in summer and closes back up for autumn and winter. The basement is the service level, holding the kitchen, storage, plant rooms, staff areas and guest toilets.
